Shabbat Dinner
Friday, August 15th 7:30pm
Join us on Friday, August 15th as we celebrate Shabbat. We will begin at 7:30 pm. Please bring a covered dish. (No pork or shellfish please). We will enjoy a Sabbath meal, a time of teaching and an evening of Israeli Folk Dancing.

Generally two candles are lit by the women of the home. She usually covers her head and recites the following blessing
Blessings of the Candles Wine or Juice... fruit of the vine:
Baruch ata Adonai Eloheynu Melech
Ha-Olahm
A-sher Kid-sha-nu Al Y'dey emu-nah
B'Yeshua HaMoshiach Or Ha-Olam
Uvishmo Madlikim
Ha-nair Shel Shabbat.
Blessed are You O' Lord our God, King of the Universe
Who has santified us by Your word and has given us
Yeshua, the Messiah, the Light of the world
it is in His Name we kindle the Sabbath lights.
The next two blessings are led by the man of the household. Everyone raises their cup and everyone chants this blessing.
Blessing for the Shabbat Wine or Juice... fruit of the vine:
Baruch
atah Adonai Eloheynu
melech ha-olam
boray p'ri ha-gafen.
Blessed
are You, Lord our God,
King of the universe,
who creates the fruit of the vine.
The Challah is a special braided Egg bread. It is usually covered with a cloth and uncovered just before the blessing.
Everyone takes a slice or a pinch of bread and it is lifted and the following blessing is chanted.

ha-motzi lechen min ha-eretz
Blessed
are You, Lord our God,
King of the universe,
who brings forth bread from the earth.
